Okay, it's 3:40am, way past my bedtime, and I think I'm done adding content for now. We've got a start at the NTP and DNS sections, and I haven't touched the e-mail/spam stuff yet. A lot of the NTP stuff will come from, or be linked from there.

The DNS stuff comes from ... well, I'm not allowed to talk about that yet.  ;)

So, I'm pretty much dead right now and I'll sign off. I don't know if I'll get a chance to do anything more with this stuff until I get back to Brussels on the 26th. We'll see. --Shub

will we be discussing network management frameworks such as FCAPS to give context to these best practices? --Jerome 04:23, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

As far as I'm concerned, anything that's likely to be of use to one stratum or another of the network operations audience is fair game. If you don't know where to categorize it in the main page index yet, put it under 'New Material' at the bottom. And welcome aboard. --Baylink 13:17, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Overall philosophy Edit

I've added an overall philosophy section at the beginning of the main page and seeded it with a couple of items. I think that this could evolve into a section defining the scope of this WikiCity and provide guidelines for what belongs in the Wiki and what belongs outside. For instance, there is a wealth of material from non-IP networking and telecoms that could (and should be referenced) but only a small amount of that material belongs in the Wiki itself. Perhaps someone more familiar with these areas will take on the task of fleshing out a framework for this.
